This cradle is hand-crafted from American Black Cherry with curly Purple Heart accent on top of all three rails. The naturally dark patina of the Cherry wood is a direct result of its long-term storage since harvesting. Support of the cradle between the uprights of the trestle stand is on two hard Maple bearings which allow a smooth swinging movement. The Maple bearings also serve with the strong trestle (stretcher) to keep the span between the uprights constant. The cradle may be removed from the trestle stand by simply raising the cradle a short distance until the Maple bearings clear the bearing pockets in the uprights. The cradle can then be used next to an adult's chair or bed. The cradle rockers are carved from single pieces of wood in such a fashion as to preclude tipping of the cradle. 39" L x 29 1/2" W x 40 1/2"H ( includes trestle stand)
